Autumn Happenings 2017

Artist Spotlight

This month the art association I belong to highlighted artists from our group. I thought I'd post mine just in case you missed it on Facebook.

“My art is typically a reflection of a woman’s journey through life. It’s my hope that the artwork resonates with the deepest parts of who you are and what is needed in the moment. Everything I create serves as a tangible means of bringing Hope, Comfort, Encouragement, Inspiration, Love and Celebration through imagery, symbols, colors and words. My vision is to enhance the lives of ALL people by bringing ENCOURAGEMENT & HOPE through creativity.”

Polly is a mixed media and collage artist who primarily uses acrylics, oil pastels, inks, pencils, and repurposed junk mail. As a long time collector of vintage paper items from the 1800’s to the 1970’s, Polly typically incorporates book pages, scriptures, handwritten letters, postage stamps, receipts and other items from days gone by. Her work is colorful, bright, rich in texture and usually includes women, children, houses, birds, flowers, trees and keys. Polly’s artwork is known to generate personal narratives for the viewer which are meant to be written down and pondered upon in the days that follow.

Polly is a native of Southern California and has a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology. Over the years, she has utilized art and creativity as a means of helping people share their personal experiences more freely.

She facilitates a creative workshop called REFLECTIONS to help individuals reduce stress and discover more of who they are.

Polly’s artwork has also been used as a tool to raise money for people receiving medical treatment and has been instrumental in raising funds for churches, ministries and non-profit organizations.
