RECIPROCITY

First post for 2017!! If you follow my sporadic blog posts you'll know that each year I pick a word at the beginning of the year. Last year it was PURSUE. And that is exactly what I did in a lot of different ways. It actually set the stage for the new year so I'm grateful for all the things I tried and chased after.

For 2017, my action word is FOCUS! This past year we moved twice and we finally settled in to our new home in the Palm Springs area. We love it so much here! I finally had the opportunity to host my own Thanksgiving AND Christmas dinners! I felt like a total grown up.

I also participated in 3 events throughout the year and they were all great opportunities to share my artwork with so many people. I made some great connections for opportunities that will spill over into 2017. What a blessing!

So back to my action word and a little about the artwork I'm sharing with you this month. Throughout the year I work on pieces that I just don't share with the public. I'm not sure why that is, maybe they (my art pieces) know I'll need them to accompany a special project such as this blog post. This blogging stuff is no joke! It's super time consuming but I keep hearing from different people that it's the sure fire way to get traffic to your website. Hmmmmm.

Anyway... I love this piece. I painted her back in March. She has a lot of texture and some collage. Sorry the text isn't very legible in the artwork but it says, " give out what you most want to come back". It just resonates with me on so many levels. I'll let you in on a little secret. When I go to art shows, farmers markets or outdoor flea markets, I purposely seek out the handcraft artisans so I can purchase a piece from them. That way, when it's my turn to sell at venues such as these, people will buy from me! Get it? Reciprocity!!! Is that weird or maybe even superstitious??? Oh well at least I don't wear one red sock for "good luck". LOL

I decided to use this image because its a reminder of what I want to FOCUS on this year. My plan is to participate in more shows and events. They are a lot of work as far as prep and set up goes but I love interacting with the people who are interested and drawn to my work. It's so fascinating to me.

I will also be offering fun art workshops privately and publicly.
